You say Maschine are the most sensitive pads you've used, but did you like them? I have a Maschine 1 and think those pads are terrible. I don't plan to use with with my computer so much. The only thing I worry about on the MPD218 is that it's bus powered only, so whatever gear I use it with ( a DSI Tempest, Elektron Rytm or Synthrom Deluge ) the unit has to be able to power it. I have the 218 and 226 at the top of my list. Thanks for the run down on the Akai MPD 2xx series. I'm a fan of sliders and it looks like I could have some fun on that thing, especially since it's easy to control multiple parameters at the same time with one hand, as opposed to knobs. NI Maschine: the most sensitive I've ever used, hands down. The Quneo looks interesting with all those extra controlls on it. KMI Quneo has nice pads and is a very versatile controller if you can find one for a good price. Korg Padkontrol is a nice pad, and cheap used. Plus the 226 and 232 can be colored to your liking. I've tried most of them so here goes my favorites of each brand:Īkai: the new MPD 2XX are very nice, thick and responsive. ![]() What pads out there have some squishy give to them like the M Audio Oxygen pads? What pad units do you like? Also curious in hearing about the velocity sensitivity of pads too. I'm thinking of looking for an Akai MPD218 to try. Products like the Akai MPK249/LPD8 have this. Anyone try an M-Audio Axiom Air Mini 32 controller? Wondering about those pads.Īnd I'm not sure if this true for all pads with black overlays, but most of the products out there that have black patch/overlays on top seem to feel stiff. I think the Arturia Beatstep pads are decent feeling. Surprisingly the Novation Launchkey pads were really nice, but too small. I've had a Korg PadKontrol which was pretty nice. I tried the Akai MPK249/LPD8 pads and thought those were too stiff feeling. However, I don't know how good they are for translating velocity as this wasn't hooked up to anything. I recently tried a new M Audio Oxygen controller keyboard that has pads on it and to my surprise they felt great. I had an Akai Advance before and liked those pads quite a bit because they felt good and were nice and big. ![]() I'm trying to find some MPC style drum pads to hook up to my Deluge so I can drum in parts realtime.
